I was born in Cape Town on the 30 Jan 1987. In 2004 it was Grey’s turn to travel to Cape Town and that year their Pipe Band also came along and played on stage during one of the weekends concerts. I was completely blown away because that was the first time I had ever seen and heard real bagpipes! From then on I decided that the pipes where for me and if I had the opportunity to play I would definitely learn to play, no matter how long it took. A few months later The CTCPB played at a performance at one of our school functions. I once again was blown away, and after their performance I went up to the band and asked where I could learn how to play. They mentioned that they wanted to start up a junior band and they told me to come along to their band practices on Tuesday nights. I haven’t looked back since. My first public performance, and my first time in a kilt, was at the 2006 Eastern Cape Gathering. I competed in two solo piping events, the quartet and the mass band performance. My first time competing in the band events was at the 2007 Western Cape Gathering in the Medley March.
